Thornhill Plantation (1832)

National Register of Historic Places

Thornhill Plantation, also known as the "James Inne Thornton Plantation Home," was designed by Allen Glover, the architect of Rosemount.

Thornhill is on County Road 19 northwest of Forkland near Watsonia. The 2,600 acre estate is partially in Garret's Shop Precinct and partially in the Forkland Precinct.

Thornhill was the home of Colonel James Innes Thornton, from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Col. Thornton was the first Secretary of State of Alabama and held this office for thirteen years.
