17 May 1836 Beck Died Saturday night last near this place, Mrs. Mary Beck, consort of Captain Alfred Beck in the 42nd year of her age. She has left a husband and a large family of children to lament her loss.
4 Jun 1836 Downing Died in this place on Wednesday last after a long and severe indisposition, Mr. Josiah Downing, and old and respected inhabitant of our town.
  Smith Died at the residence of Mr. William Brewer in Sumter County on the 28th instant, Mr. John D. Smith, Senior Editor of the Sumter Gazette in the 23d year of his age. He was a native of Maine and a young man of great talents.
2 Jul 1836 La Vergy Died in Erie (Greene County) on the 23d instant at the residence of Captain Pease after a short but severe illness, Mrs. Eliza Caroline La Vergy, consort of Mr. Philander La Vergy and eldest daughter of Dr. Walter O. Bickley. She left her husband, mother and many relations to mourn her loss.
13 Aug 1836 Williams Died at his residence near Erie (Greene County) on Sunday morning last after a few days illness, Mr. Thomas Williams, formerly of North Carolina, but for the last ten years a resident of this county.
  Hillhouse Died near Marion in Perry County on the 1st instant of bilious fever, Mr. John Hillhouse, for many years an inhabitant of this place.
20 Aug 1836 Marrast Died at Livingston in Sumter County on Friday the 12th instant after a few days illness in the 19th year of her age, Mrs. Elizabeth Marrast, consort of Mr. William Marrast, formerly of this place. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She left a husband and infant daughter.
27 Aug 1836 Moore Died in this place Tuesday morning last after a short illness, Mrs. L. Moore, consort of Mr. L. Moore, late of Connecticut.
3 Sep 1836 Hart Died at his residence 8 1/2 miles southeast of Tuscaloosa of inflammatory bilious fever, Rev. Henry W. Hart, son of John and Mary Hart, aged 38 years and 22 days, native of Richland District, South Carolina; served an apprenticeship in the coach-making business in Columbia, after which he moved to Edgefield village, where in 1822 he married Harriet W. Beams, daughter of James and Rebecca Beams and on the following Friday following, he joined the Baptist Church. In 1826, he moved to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. In 1834, he was licensed to preach, the next year, ordained to preach by the Gilgal Church and had pastoral charge of Little Sandy Church when he died.
10 Sep 1836 Dunlap Died at Shelby Springs in this state on the 24th ult. in his 38th year, Col. Robert Dunlap of Dallas County, late of Newberry District, South Carolina.
  Stilts Died at the residence of Mr. Barnabas Matt in the Canebrake, Monday the 5th instant, Mr. Charles Stilts of this place, late of Sumpter County, Tennessee.
24 Sep 1836 Rhodes Died at his residence near this place Friday night, the 16th instant, Mr. Bryant Rhodes after a long and severe illness, in the 40th year of his age.
  Booker Died on Monday the 10th instant at his residence near this place, Mt. Daniel Booker, formerly of Noth Carolina.
  Snedecor Died on the 2d of September about 3 p.m. of croup, Isaac P., infant son of Isaac C. and Sarah C. Snedecor, aged 11 months and 6 days. Of six children, the parents have lost five.
  Pearson Died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, the 13th of September, after a severe attack of bilious fever, which lasted eleven days, Eliza Ann Pearson, wife of George C. Pearson and daughter of Col. James Snedecor, aged 19 years. She left a husband and two small children.
