Burial Notes: January 18, 1883-1938. Grandson of James Innes Thornton, son of Harry Innes Thornton and Sallie A. Blocker Thornton. Never married, fought in the Spanish American War. Some dispute on date of birth. Nephew and niece, J. B. Thornton and Sally Irvine say 1880 based on family bible, but the market says 1883. J. B. bases opinion on the fact that Harry went to war in 1898. Also the biographical sketch on St. Mark's, Boligee, published in the late 1980's by the Episcopal Church Women say a "Henry" Innes Thornton was baptized in 1880.
