Charles Hays

Charles, the son of George Hays and Anne Miller Beville, was born near Boligee on February 2, 1834. He married Margaret Cornelia Minerva Ormand of Tuscaloosa in 1863. Charles was a Major in the Confederate Army, was a delegate to the Alabama State Constitutional Convention 1867, was a member of the Alabama State Senate in 1868, and a US Representative for Alabama's 4th District 1869-1877. He died June 24, 1879 of Bright's disease (kidneys) and was buried at a private or family graveyard in Greene County, Alabama. Charles and Cornelia owned the beautiful Boligee Hill renamed by Cornelia to Myrtle Hall. The house was recently purchased, stunningly restored and then renamed by the Beekers to Myrtle Hill.

Caroline/Carolyn Foster
1868-1943

Censuses show her as Caroline, Carolyn and Carrie, but she primarily used the nickname Carrie.

The daughter of Kinchen Rambo Foster and Melissa Ann Mayo Foster, Carrie was born and raised in Milledgeville, Georgia and wrote a column for the local newspaper "Sunny South." It was her column which lured Amos Horton III from Alabama to Georgia and their marriage Nov. 7th 1903 in Georgia. This would be her first and last marriage.

Marcia was their only child.

After Amos died in 1918 Carrie returned to Georgia.

Amos married first to Sarah Elizabeth Richardson (1841-1902) and of their six sons only two lived beyond age 24.
