Stars are frequently used as religious symbols.

The emblem for Order of the Eastern Star is a five pointed Star with a pentagon in the middle. The Star of David - a six-pointed star, also known as Magen David (Hebrew for shield of David), is ypically used as a symbol of Judaism. The crescent moon and star is an internationally-recognized symbol of the faith of Islam.
